Working in partnership
Many people are involved in the care a child receives. Primary carers, childcare practitioners, and other professionals should be working in partnership to support a child's learning and development. Understand the importance of partnership, barriers to effective teamwork and communication, and how to work with external agencies and professionals.

- Whilst at work, you will spend a good many hours each day in the company of other adults. It is important, therefore, that every member of the team makes an effort to ensure that the relationship they have with each person is positive and respectful. This course outlines the characteristics of effective teams and makes suggestions for creating a positive working environment.
- Partnership working can often throw up issues about confidentiality and when you can, and should, share personal information about a child or their family. This course will present the current guidance on information sharing for practitioners working with children, young people, parents and carers.
- A crucial aspect of supporting a child with Special Educational Needs and/or Disability is partnership working. Often, you will need to include other professionals (such as GPs and physical therapists) in the care the child receives and working with parents becomes critical to ensuring positive outcomes. This course will provide advice and guidance on working with parents of children with SEND and the different professionals you may need to talk to.
